Welcome to Echols County Elementary/Middle School! My name is Rachael Whitmer, and I am SUPER excited to be your ELA teacher this year! It is going to be a fantastic year full of learning and great adventures. I can’t wait to learn ALL about you, but first I am going to tell you a few things about me. I graduated from VSU with my degree in Middle Grades Education (4th-8th grade) with my focuses being in Social Studies and English Language Arts. This is my eighth year teaching at Echols. Since being at Echols, I have taught 6th grade ELA, 7th grade ELA and Social Studies, and 5th grade ELA. Before coming to Echols County, I taught 4th grade in Lowndes County for several years.

     I love watching my students develop a love for reading as they learn: "Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are."
